BEFORE you start this Project...Before you start this project, you need to have your technology sorted out, student/group accounts created where you intend to create them (see Technology Set Up), and be clear on a location for the on-line version of all the stories. If your students are generally trustworthy, you can post these logins en mass in your classroom, or on the class website. Otherwise, see each group individually and give them their info.
For your stories, you can do one of the following:
Project 1 - Short Story WebsiteIn this project, students working in groups will create a website that demonstrates their skill in using reading strategies to engage with a text.
Phase 1 Introduce the stories by talking briefly about the author and what the story is about. Have multiple copies available in different areas of the room so students can walk around and have q quick look at the stories. Divide students into groups of about 3. Each group signs up for a story. One group per story. Give out the Short Story Website instructions Walk through the instructions with the students and answer questions. Announce the Due Date (Give them 2 weeks) Let them work until the Due date. Consult as needed. Phase 2 Post the links to their websites on a blog page on the class blog. Students should review each other's work and provide feedback (see instruction sheet) |
